Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
One septic system is located on the Site, according to the Tentative Parcel Map (Wong
Engineers, 2013).
Proposed Septic System
According to Mr. Chiappe, no new construction is planned for the Site. However,
County regulations permit a primary residence and second dwelling unit to be placed on
Parcel 2, and a second dwelling unit to be placed on Parcel 1, at some point in the
future. Any new residences would utilize new septic systems.
On-Site Septic Permit History
No permits related to septic systems for the Site were identified at the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic
systems that exist within approximately four square miles surrounding the property.
Aerial imagery from GoogleEarthTM was used. Each building cluster on the photograph
was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that 21 or
more septic systems per square mile are present in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists of orchards and agricultural land, with scattered rural
residences. The community of Farmington is located one-half mile to the east,
Farmington accounts for the majority of the septic systems counted.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a recent review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, the septic systems in the area ' II
utilize leach lines, leach lines with seepage pits, or leach lines with sumps. The septic (36'3 J
permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report.
Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage
Maximum expected septic usage on the Site would be from the existing and any future
residential uses. No construction is planned at this time. Septic system design should 0
be based on the On-Site Wastewater Disposal Standards (2003) or other engineering
recommendations.
LOGE 1307 Page 2
