KLE/NFELOER
envmvN+v•.wgnt5owtion+
The gradient of the deep, "main" aquifer was calculated between wells DP-1 and DP-3
using a "3-point analysis." During the quarterly monitoring event, flow direction in the
deep, "main" aquifer was to the southwest at a gradient of 0.003 feet/foot, consistent
with the San Joaquin Flood Control and Water Conservation District data cited in this
report, and with Kleinfelder's site-specific historical data. For additional historical
information regarding the depth-to-groundwater and corresponding groundwater
elevations, please refer to Table 7 in the Appendices. Groundwater contours for the
monitoring event are included as Plate 3.
During the fourth quarter 2011, Nitrate as N was detected in each of the three deep
groundwater samples at concentrations ranging from 1.3 mg/I (DP-1) to 8.5 mg/I (DP-2).
The results of the groundwater analyses were generally consistent with historical
results. The pattern of nitrate concentration distribution relative to the deep aquifer flow
direction appears to indicate that the highest nitrate concentrations exist north
(upgradient) of the nursery. Nitrate as N concentrations in the upgradient location (DP-
2) have been increasing over time.
For additional information regarding the results of chemical analysis, please refer to the
laboratory data sheets in Appendix C or the summary of the results of the analyses
included as Table 8 in the appendices of this report. Table 9 shows historical
concentrations of nitrates (converted to nitrates as NO3) in the following wells, which
draw water from the deeper aquifer:
■ . Norman's Nursery Old Main Well (now the backup irrigation well)
Norman's New Main Well (irrigation)
Dodge Well
• Eason Well
Barbagelata Irrigation Well
Norman's DP-1
Norman's DP-2
Norman's DP-3
The sampling of the offsite wells has at times been conducted by the Stockton East
Water District (SEWD) and nearby neighbors. Kleinfelder has not been provided with
117226.E021ST012R0693 Page 24 of 42 September 11, 2012
Copyright 2012 Kleinfelder
