CKLE/MfLDER
fli9M Sduianr.
any results by SEWD or others since the December 18, 2000 SEWD sampling.
Kleinfelder has conducted the sampling of the three onsite deep aquifer monitoring
wells. The sampling of the onsite production wells was primarily conducted by others for
the nursery's neighbors. Review of Chart 10 shows a seasonal trend in the Dodge well.
No other trends, seasonal or otherwise, can be ascertained from the data over time.
' The highest concentrations, with few exceptions, have generally been from the Eason
well. According to San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District
reports and the deep aquifer gradients calculated by Kleinfelder's monitoring of DP-1
through DP-3 to date, flow of the deeper aquifer is towards the southwest. Based on the
I data plotted, it appears that the source(s) of nitrates in the deep aquifer is located off
site in the area of the Dodge and Eason wells.
I5.2 SURFACE WATER MONITORING
The RWQCB's Monitoring and Reporting Program (MRP) No. 97-811 requires that
"Visual inspections shall be made daily at all points at which surface runoff may leave
the nursery and enter Potter Creek. These discharge points include, but are not limited
to, the pipes from the tailwater holding pond (Basin A and B) and the roadside drainage
ditch along Escalon Bellota Road." The MRP required sampling of 3 locations in
addition to all discharge locations. Included in the surface water discussion is the
dewatering discharge. While it is technically groundwater, it is discharged to a basin on
site. Norman's Nursery has consistently exceeded the number of monitoring locations
required.
Surface water monitoring and visual inspections were conducted by Norman's Nursery
personnel. A discussion of the flows, observations and chemical results are detailed in
ithe following sections of this report. For a summary of the flows and chemical results,
please refer to Tables 4 and 5 beneath the "Tables" tab of this report.
5.2.1 Surface Water Flow
Surface water was observed by Norman's Nursery staff at specified locations from
October 1 through December 31, 2011. Flow rates were monitored for a total of 92 days
during the quarter. Surface water flow data is shown in Table 4 in the Appendix.
117226.E021ST012RO693 Page 25 of 42 September 11, 2012
Copyright 2012 Kleinfelder
