Ms. Spear indicated that the property was in the Spear for about 48 years(since about 1953). Prior to 1953, the property was used to grow grapes. At the time of purchase in 1953,the grapes were.removed and the land was used for horse and cattle grazing. The property is,still used for grazing. The location of the well pump.is just west of the house. The septic field-is also located west of the house. The distance between the well and septic system is not known. No problems are known to exist with the septic system or the water well.' The depth and age of the well are. not known. It is not known if the well has been tested.for water,quality. , IV. SURROUNDING USAGE p The area to the north and east of the site is small to large lots with homes of less than one (<1) acre up to about ten(10) acre in size. A count of buildings on 1993 USGS topographic map (Figure ]),indicates 52 buildings in a one mile area surrounding the subject'site. It is possible that the septic system density is 52 systems.per square mile. A search of septic system records was conducted from the files of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division for Golfview Road-. ,The record search located three(3) septic permits near the project address. A summary of the septic permits is presented in Table Table 1.
