Soil Suitability Study APN: 209-190-16 UP-96-6
Existing-Use: The present property has a house, a garage and a
storage building and three large tanks located on it in the
southeast corner of the property. A new church building is planned
for development immediately east of the storage building as shown
on the attached "Site Plan" . The remainder of the property to the
west and north is unimproved and presently wide-open, undeveloped
land.
I` Soil Profile Test : On my "Field Percolation Data Sheet" , I have
noted the soil encountered to be dark grey in color in the upper
strata and reddish-brown in color in the lower strata and either a
dense clay in the upper strata and a crumbly clay in the lower
strata.
The University Of California publication entitled "Soils Of
San Joaquin County, California" by Walter W. Weir , dated June 1952 ,
refers to the soil in this general area as ambrose clay, dark brown
in color with good surface drainage and imperfect subsurface
drainage. The parent soil is listed as alluvial soils derived as
outwash from hard sedimental rock (sandstone, shale , and
metamorphosed sedimentary) sources .
The Soil Survey of San Joaquin County, California, United
States Department Of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service, issued
October 1992 lists the soil type as Stomar Clay Loam, 0% to 2%
slopes . Though permeability slow it is very deep and well drained.
The physical and chemical properties of the soil are listed as
follows :
Soil Name Depth Clay Permeability Shrink Swell Available
jI_n_ches) 46 ( Inches/Hr . ) Potential Water
Capacity
In In
Stomar Clay 0-17 27-35 0 . 2-0 . 6 Moderate 0. 16-0 . 18
Loam 17-47 35-60 0. 06-0. 2 High 0. 15-0. 18
47-60 27-40 0 . 2-0. 6 Moderate 0 . 15-0 . 18
A Soil Profile Test Hole, SPH, was dug to a maximum depth of
7 '06" to use for Soil Profile reporting. See the attached "Field
Percolation Data Sheet" and the "Site Plan" , as well as , the text
of this report for specific soil layer character and location
details . Water was encountered initially at a depth below the
ground surface of 7 ' 06" when excavated on Saturday, 02/13/99 . On
Tuesday, 02-16-99 the water level was recorded at a level of 6 ' 04"
below the natural ground level .
The water table in this area is known to fluctuate with the
k
seasons of the year . A contributing factor to the water table being
Gurudawara Gur Nanak Parkash, 16101 West Gantline Road, Tracy, Ca. 3
