Soil Suitability Study Sheet 3 of 4
Soil Profile Test (Cont ' d) :
Two basic soil layers were found in excavating to
the 12-foot depth on Parcel No . 1 for the Soil
Profile Test . The first layer is a grey, clay
material to 2 . 5 feet below the ground surface . The
second layer from 2 . 5 feet to 12 feet below the
ground surface, was found to be a brown sandstone
material . The approximate location of the Soil
Profile Hole is shown on the attached "Parcel Map" .
Percolation Tests :
Three percolation tests were performed, two on
Parcel No. 1 and one other on Parcel No . 2 , in
accordance with the percolation test procedures
outlined in the "Manual of Septic Tank Practice" ,
published by Department of Health, Education and
Welfare and requirements of the San Joaquin County
Public Health Service, Environmental Health
Department . All three percolation tests were
conducted with perforated metal pipe in place in
the test hole to prevent undue sloughing . However ,
Percolation Test Hole No . 1A was also tested
without the perforated metal pipe in place in the
test hole. No differences in the percolation rate
were noted with or without the use of the
perforated metal pipe.
On February 12 and 13 , 1991 , the three percolation
tests were performed on the above referenced
property under my direction in conformance with San
Joaquin County Ordinance No. 549 . The approximate
location of the test holes are shown on the
attached "Parcel Map" .
Percolation Test Hole Nos . IA, 1B & 2 resulted in
percolation rates of 60 . 0 minutes per inch, 68 . 5
minutes per inch and 48 . 0 minutes per inch as
determined on the attached Field Note sheets .
Well Water Analysis And Recommendation:
There is a domestic well on the north end of the
improved 1 . 89 acre Parcel No. 2 , in front of the
garage. The domestic well water was sampled for
nitrates and found to be 26 mg/1 . The well water
analysis was performed by FGL Environmental and is
shown on the attached letter dated February
21 , 1991 . The test result of the nitrate sample is
within tolerance . No special requirements are
necessary for any proposed wells .
MS-91-21 --- Rick DeHoyos
