f
7 NLS§ 2.3, SSS§ 4.3,4.4,4.5. The on-site domestic well was sampled for extensive inorganic and organic
analysis. Samples were obtained from a hose bibb on the west side of the house, approximately 10 ft from
the actual well. The pump was allowed to run for 30 minutes to ensure that aquifer fob n ater was
sampled and not stagnant well casing water. Each of the sample bottle types and pr rvatty for the
domestic well samples are illustrated on the FGL Labs Chain of Custody found ' Aendix . The sample
containers were placed in a cooled ice chest and then transported to FGL Lab in Stockton. a constituents
illustrated in Table 4 below are those required by EHD, along with constituen exceed MCL,or
typically exceed, such as arsenic. As noted, arsenic is below its MCL. Medium-to-high groundwater
i chloride concentrations may indicate contamination from septic system effluent, since human wastes are
generally high in chloride content. Chlorides travel exceptionally well in the soil environment, even better
than nitrate, and can be an excellent indicator of septic effluent pollution. The aquifer well water and water
table reveals very high concentrations of chloride which may indicate upgradient septic system pollution.
TABLE 4
pa1.,_ ON SITE'WELL WATER ANALYSIS OF EHD(PRIMARY CONSTITUENTS `
AND.OfffESTED.CONSTITUENTS ABOVE THEIR
C.L.
q . <.._.
ANALYTE LEVEL FOUND MAXIMUM CONTAMINANT LEVEL(MCL)
Nitrate(EHD Primary) 57.9 mg/L 45 mg/L(ppm)
DBCP(EHD Primary) Non-Detect 0.2 gg/L
Manganese 60 gg/L 50 gg/L(Secondary Standard)
Sulfate 630 mg/L 500 mg/L(Secondary Standard)
Chloride 790 mg/L 500 mg/L(Secondary Standard)
Arsenic 4 gg/L 10 gg/L
Total Dissolved Solids 2780 mg/L 1000 mg/L(Secondary Standard)
Total Alkalinity 440 mg/L No Standard
As referenced, the standing groundwater in the backhoe excavation test pit was measuredt 7.2 f et below
ground surface.
