_ LIGHT, AIR & SPACE CONSTRUCTION
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES COMPANY
License Number 445403
R.E.A.Number 04072
Ms. Weaver stated that a TOSCO/76 easement and pipeline carrying crude oil crossed the property
(see Figure 2). Yellow flags that a pipeline representative had marked on April 8, 2003 mark the
approximate pipeline course. Ms. Weaver did not report any problems regarding the pipeline
during their stay on the property. No stains or distressed vegetation were observed on the property.
7.2 Preliminary Asbestos Screening
A material is defined to be ACBM,under California State regulations,if it contains greater than
0.1%asbestos by weight. When referring to asbestos, friable means the material, when dry,can be
_ crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder by hand pressure. Friable ACBM are more likely than
non-friable ACBM to release fibers when disturbed or damaged. The level of the preliminary
screening performed by LA&S was designed solely to identify the presence of the most obvious and
common ACBM,not to comply with the survey requirements of the Asbestos Hazard Emergency
Response Act(AHERA)of 1986. No testing for asbestos was performed during this study.
The residence building may contain ACBM due to the age of its construction. Most building
material manufacturers excluded asbestos fibers from their products since about 1975. An
exception was the use of asbestos in some non-friable products such as vinyl sheet flooring, vinyl
floor tiles, floor tile mastic and roofing materials that continued through the middle to late 1980s.
7.3 PCB-Containing Transformer Search
LA&S did not observe transformers on the subject site.
7.4 Storage Tank Search
LAS did not observe any storage tanks on the subject site. Ms. Weaver stated that they had never
used underground storage tanks on the property.
7.5 Radon Screening
Individual states have conducted a statewide screening for indoor radon to determine whether there
are particular regions that are more prone to indoor radon problems than others. LA&S has
obtained copies of this information and the subject site lies within an area determined to have a
radon Zone Level of 3 in San Joaquin County. Zone 2 has a predicted average indoor screening
level of greater than (2.530) but less than (4)picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The USEPA action level
for radon is(4)pCi/L. No testing for radon was performed during this study.
April 16 2003 Page 15 of 20
P.O.BOX 36303 •SAN JOSE•CA•95158-6303 •408/979-0661 •408/979-0621 FAX•408/322-7325 PAGER
- GENERAL ANDENGINEERINGCONTRACTOR•HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE REMOVAL CONTRACTOR-SITE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS
