►. April 13, 2007
NOA Project Number: E07046A
Table 4.
Soil Boring Log.
Depth Interval (ft) Soil Type Unified Soil Classification
0-1 Light brown,very moist,clay CL
1-3.5 Light brown, moist, day with some silt and sand CL
3.5-12.5 Light brown, moist, clay with some silt CL
*No groundwater was encountered to a depth of 12.5 feet.
5.4 Discussion of Soil Lithology
` A visual inspectio of the shallow soils from on-site drilling indicates limited potential for
satisfactory percola on. A percolation test is the best method to determine the suitability of the
soils. Please see a next section for percolation test results. Generally speaking, coarser grained
sor has c greater permeability than fine-grained soils.
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
6.1 Percolation Test Locations
A site map indicating the location of the percolation test hole is included as Plate 1 of this report.
` 6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
One ow one p percolation test were conducted on the site, for a total of two percolation
` tests HD co i ers a hallow percolation test boring to be between 36 and 42 inches deep and a
P
percolation test oring to be a depth more than 42 inches up to a maximum depth of 25 feet.
` 6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
The soil borings were advanced with a hand augur on the site on April 8, 2007.
A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of
water in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of"pea gravel' were placed in the
` bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. "Pea gravel'%
was then used to backfill in the annular space.
4 Presaturation of the percolation test holes occurred approximately 24 hours before the percolation-
tests. The depth of water used to pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the boring.
6. 7 A6
