►. KLEINFELDER
EXPECT MORE
., trucks. The semi-truck dealership will remain. The proposed development will
encompass approximately 15.4 acres of the 23.64-acre site. An on-site septic/leach
field system will provide sewage disposal and will be located in the northern area of
the development. A 100 percent septic system replacement area, if needed, will be
located in the eastern area of the project site. A new well and storage tank will provide
water for domestic and fire use. A map showing the project site plan and approximate
location of the septic/leach field and well is presented on Plate 2.
We understand that the Pilot Travel Center will have 74 public parking spaces and 113
semi-truck parking spaces (187 total parking spaces) and employ 18 employees per
shift. According to the San Joaquin County Onsite Wastewater Disposal Standards
(page 13 of 25), service stations and restaurants should be considered to have a water
use of 10 gallons per vehicle served per day and 35 gallons per person per day,
respectively.
For the purpose of our nitrate loading calculation, we have estimated the average
waste/sewage flow per week for the project site as follows assuming 3 eight hour shifts
per day and a maximum of 250 vehicles per day:
((18 people per shift x 3 shifts per day x 35 gal per person) + = 30,730 pal/week
(250 vehicles per day x 10 gal per vehicle]) x 7 days)
3. PRESENT AND PAST USE
The project site currently consists of a semi-truck dealership, asphalt paved parking
area, retention basin, soil stockpile area, and a vacant field. Other structures which
may have been previously located on the parcel are unknown to us. The asphalt
paved parking area and soil stockpile area do not appear in a historical aerial
photograph taken May 23, 1993. The two dealership structures were observed in this
` photograph; however, the larger structure located in the western area appears to have
been expanded in recent years. The vacant field appears to have been an orchard at
the time the photograph was taken. The May 23, 1993 photograph is presented on
` Plate 3.
4. SEPTIC PERMITS AND PERFORMANCE
SJCEHD files were searched to identify septic and well permits at parcels' in the
project vicinity. There were no permits on file for the subject parcel. Twenty-four
permits were reviewed for parcels located adjacent to or near the subject property.
These permits were for new installations and repairs/additions to existing septic
systems, new wells, and repairs and destruction of wells. The permitted sewage
disposal systems were for conventional septic/leach field systems. The permits
viewed and a summary of information obtained from the permits are presented on
Plate 4.
L
82946.G01/ST07R401/SJW:ly/Ir May 30,2007
0 2007 Kleinfelder Page 2 of 8
