It is true that the migrant farm workers need a better life. I am not opposed to their having a clean, safe
place to live, but I do not believe that those needs will be met at this facility. It was suggested by one
of the members of the Board of Supervisors that perhaps Mr. Rios should simply pay his workers
better wages and allow them to provide for themselves, I harold that. The workers would have better
conditions if their employer work truly provide for them with proper wages and health benefits.
O The sheer size of the project is too vast. We live in an area of very small communities, most of
the surrounding towns are smaller than this project. This project will have a negative impact on
our area by means of traffic, noise, water supply, pollution from the sewer system, littering,
illegal activities and over crowding in the local merchant facilities.
O It is a fact that the Latino community is one of the worst, at properly providing for their
animals. They almost never spay or neuter and are notorious for abandoning their animals and
their offspring. Our area is already inundated with abandoned animals.
Questions:
O Will there be liquor sold on the premises? If not sold but allowed to be brought on the premises,
who and how will it be controlled?
O The possibility for gambling on the premise is enormous. How do they anticipate preventing the
activity?
O The potential for these people to have and carry firearms, of all magnitude, is of great concern.
What is their plan for prevention and control?
O Will criminal background checks (including sexual offenses) be mandated for each tenant?
O Will these people be in the United States legally?
O Will they have valid California Driver's Licenses? Will they be insured motorists? Have any of
them been convicted of Driving Under the Influence?
The safety of my family is paramount. The possibility of this camp being located in my community,is
a threat to that safety. We moved out here to get away from traffic, noise, city water and waste
systems, and to have a peaceful place to live. Neighbors that are kind, clean and are proud of the way
their property and homes look. We wanted privacy, security, quiet, relaxation. This labor camp
threatens to strip us of that.
I plead that this project be stopped once and for all.
Sincerely,
CGin er Handle
g Y
Thomas Handley
Hailey McCracken ,
