6. Gambling-Will be wed. Even though it is illegal, nothing will one to prevent it. The
combination of liquor, gambling, and firearms is not a good idea. Such an idea really causes me to fear for my
safety, and for that of my family, especially knowing we might have to wart 14 hours for help.
7.Security-They claim to have a plan but, refuse to provide specifics.
8. Waste Treatment-Is it still going to be like the one at the Arbor Mobile Home Park in Acampo, and
all the problems that go with it, as Mr. Barber pointed out at the Board of Supervisors meeting last July?
9.Increased 66ater Usage -And it's effect on the water table
10.Increased Traffic-With 400 persons here, and Mr. Rios' intent to rent out the soccer and softball
fields to outside groups, and who knows how much of an increase in traffic that will bring. Also, the drinking of
alcohol, etc. at these events, then driving afterwards. This traffic is 7 days a week. Wasn't the mexican rodeo(on
Tully and Kettleman)turned down because of traffic concerns, and the rodeo was only for once a month?
11. Homeless-Does Mr. Rios plan to rent to the county for use by the homeless? I don't like this idea or
the problems that surely go with it.
12.pa=s-Possibility of drug usage.
13.Prostitution-?
14. Environment-What about the Fairy Shrimp? They have been designated as a threatened species.
Wasn't a farmer given a HUGE fine because he killed a rat, accidentally, while plowing?
15.Schools-Linden and Lodi both have buses which pick up kids in this area, and Tokay Colony School
is approximately 3 miles away.
16. Safety Qf Our Children-Are there going to be background checks? California passed it's version of
Megan's Law in September 1996 -I have a right to know if any sex offenders are living nearby.
17. Subdivision -An 88 unit subdivision, in nearby Lockeford, was rejected, in part,to a lack of police
and fire protection as well as traffic. Allowing for 2 cars per home here, that is only 176 cars, nowhere near the
cars at the proposed camp.
Finally, I'm really bothered by the concept of a company town. This camp will become a town if allowed
to proceed. More people will be living here than in the towns of Victor, Clements, or Acampo. My family
returned to California in the 1930's doing migrant work and, although my parents died by the time was 7, 1
remember stories my grandmother told me regarding these camps and how they were operated; of the operators
keeping most of the money the workers had earned. I would also like to add that I moved here to the country 22
years ago to be in the country and I enjoy the peace and quiet. If I had wanted a town down the road, I would have
stayed in town.
Sincerely
Bob Hensley
BH:pmh
