January 31, 2008 <br /> SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY <br /> DEPALMA PROPERTY <br /> 18406 S HAZELHURST ROAD <br /> ESCALON, CALIFORNIA <br /> OUR PROJECT NUMBER: LGS080003 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION AND PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT <br /> Our office was contracted by Dominic Depalma of Ripon to conduct a soil suitability study for <br /> the property at 18406 S Hazelhurst Road, Escalon, California. <br /> The soil suitability study (SSS) was conducted to determine whether the soils are suitable for <br /> use with a septic system. The study was performed according to the requirements of Section <br /> 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code. A major element of the field work <br /> included conducting percolation tests that meet the required absorption rates as required by <br /> San Joaquin County, Public Health Services, Environmental Health Department (EHD). <br /> In addition to conducting the percolation tests, a review of published soil information, geologic <br /> maps, and ground water information was performed to evaluate the suitability of soils for use <br /> with a septic system. <br /> The formatting of this report has been designed to follow, to the greatest degree possible, the <br /> EHD's Soil Suitability Study Requirements Checklist, dated July 14, 2003. <br /> 1.1 . Site Description, <br /> The Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) for the Site is 245-080-07) The parcel is approximately 20 <br /> acres in size (Plate 1). The county application number is pending. The site has a residence on <br /> each parcel; the remainder of the property is planted in peach orchard. <br /> The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic map, is <br /> about 80 to 90 feet above mean sea level. The land grades gently up to the west. <br /> According to the San Joaquin County Community Development Department (www.co.san- <br /> joaquin.ca.us), the subject property is zoned AG-40, general agriculture with a minimum parcel <br /> size of 40 acres. This zoning designation "is established to preserve agricultural lands for the <br /> continuation of commercial agricultural enterprises." <br /> 1.2 Proposed Development <br /> The subject property will be divided into two parcels. Parcel 1 will be 2 acres in size, and Parcel <br /> 2 will be 18.01 acres in size.
