Past Uses of the Site Based on historical aerial photographs reviewed, the Site was dry farmed or used for grazing land in 1937. Portions of the Site were used for irrigated pasture or crops from 1952 onwards. The cattle facility and residences were constructed within the last nine years, according to Mr. Alger. Existing and„Proposed Septic Tank Usage Existing Septic System Three septic systems exist on the Site- One system is located at each of the residences, and the third serves the milk pra ssing barn. Propos eptic System There ar no plans fo construction on the Site. Should any new homes be constructed, they wool require to utilize new septic systems. On-Site Septic Permit History Three septic system permits for the Site were identified at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department: • October 2002 permit for a new septic system at the milk processing barn. • April 2004 permit for a new septic system at the eastern residence. • April 2004 permit for a new septic system at the western residence. These permits are included in Appendix 4. Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity To determine the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that exist within approximately four square miles surrounding the property. Aerial photo imagery from GoogleEarthTm was used. Each building cluster on the photo �— was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, we determined that seven or more septic systems per square mile are present in the immediate vicinity of the Site. 1 The general area consists of agricultural land, primarily orchards. Several rural residences are located along the roadways.
