Not only is it situated in a"hole in the ground"
but it is buffered by the Stanislaus River, the river bluff, and a mature walnut orchard and
probably a 100 acres grape vineyard. An accurate reading compared to the proposed area
is not obtainable. It is like comparing apples to oranges.
The Hendrick site ( proposed site)on the contrary is located at ground level
with absolutely no natural sound barriers in a heavily traveled noisy area. When the present
orchards are removed the sound barrier which is protecting
the Henry Road area and maintaining an acceptable noise level will be gone and the noise
levels will increase substantially increasing the noise to unacceptable levels.
5. 1 understand that the proposed project will be done in three phases. However, neither
map reflects any sound barrier on the north side of phase one or two
The mitigation measures recommended in this report are inadequate. The noise study is not
reflective of what it will be when orchards are removed. Comparative analysis uses locations
which offer unfair comparisons.
People in this area did not object to the original quarry in this area,or to its expansion because
it offered the perfect location with natural sound barriers, out of site, and non-intrusive
to the area residents. However, the proposed operation is not appropriate in this location.
The residents in this area plea with you to deny this application.
