RECRIVED
AUG 1 6 2004
Community Development Dept
San Joaquin County August 14, 2004
Community Development Department
Development Services Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton,CA 95205
Re- George Reed Inc.
Application#PA-0400250(QX)
To: George Funderburg,
1 am responding to your notice of the above application, number fisted, being made to San Joaquin County
by George Reed, Inc. reference quarry excavation from the property of David J. Hendrick.
My pnperty is directly north, uphill, from the proposed quarry. Gravel quarries have a history of digging to
the ground water table exposing it to evaporation, and sometimes even"de-watering"the ground table
water in order to get at additonal gravel. My most obvious concern about this application is what effect it
will have on the existing water table on my property. It has been falling over the years due to more water
demand in this general area.
Is this quarry, if approved going to dry up my well, or cause me to have to have it drilled deeper? Well
drilling is expensive. If such becomes the case will George Reed Inc. have a fund available to me to cover
well re-drilling costs because of the negative effect this venture could have on our ground water table?
Gravel trucks have been going by my place for years already so I am not particularly opposed to this
application unless it is going to have a negative impact on my property, primarily the water table level.
Please address this concern in your review of the application.
Sincerely,
ustr'^ Qg
Clarence B.
