SILVERA PROPERTY, SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Page No. 3
OWNER: Mussi
ADDRESS: 10229 S. Crocker Rd.
LOCATION: 200 yds S. of SW corner of property.
AGE OF HOUSE: 100+ years
SEPTIC SYSTEM: Current owner purchased the residence in 1962 and is still utilizing the
system that existed at that time. Estimates that system consist of a
smaller (less than 1200 gal.) septic tank and leach lines. Owner either
added to or just repaired leach lines that were damaged by a backhoe
several years ago. System still operable but tank must be pumped
often, possibly due to smaller tank servicing a large family.
V. GROUND WATER DEPTH AND TESTING
Ground water was encountered in each of the four test pits that were excavated at
depths ranging from 5.0 to 7.5 feet. A water sample was obtained from the test pit
excavated adjacent to the existing Silvera residence leach field on January 6, 1992. The
sample was submitted to the laboratory and tested for the presence of nitrates. A copy of
the test results is contained in the Appendix. The results of the tests indicate that the level
of nitrates are well below the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) allowed by law.
VI. SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTS
Although there is no planned development of the proposed parcels at this time, three
test pits were excavated to a depth of 10.0 feet in areas where future homesites might be
located. A fourth test pit was excavated adjacent to the existing Silvera residence leach
field. The purpose of the test pits was to determine the soil profile in the general area. For
approximate location of the test pits, see the Tentative Parcel Map in the Appendix. The
test pits were excavated with a Cat 416 backhoe equipped with a 24 inch bucket. Visual
classification of each soil stratum encountered was made in the field by a civil engineer at
the time the test pits were excavated. A description of each soil encountered is presented
in the Appendix as Log of Test Pits.
Generally the soils encountered in the test pits were alternating stratums of sands and
clays. The sands were generally mixed with varying amounts of clay and/or silt although
there were a few stratums of sand that were relatively free from fines. For a more detailed
description of the soil strata encountered see the Log of Test Pits.
Two percolation tests were performed, one in the area of the existing leach field and
one in the SW corner of proposed Parcel #1. For approximate location of the percolation
test see the Tentative Parcel Map in the Appendix.
t1VE RS0
D +
1. W
O h
P
9SSOG
