January 15, 1993
RECEIVED
Public Health Services A
Environmental Health Division
19 1993
P. 0. Box 2009 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
STOCKTON, CA 95201 PERMIT/SERVICES
RE: Clements Automotive Service, 18633 E.Hwy 88, Clements.
We refer to your letter of July 3 , 1992 in which you state in the
second last paragraph that we should contact Cal--Trans to clear up
who owns the land on which the 350 gal . tank was unearthed on
November 6, 1990 .
We are sending you herewith copy of letter received from The State
of California Department of Transportation, in which they declare
that the tank was effectively on Cal Trans property, because the
new water installations where the tank was found, were also on
their property.
In reference to your letter of December 4, 1992 , please be advised
that we are well aware of our liabilities and responsibilities at
the site and have managed a clean and contaminant free shop during
the three years it has been in operation under our ownership. No
gasoline dispensers or tanks were installed or used in that period.
County inspectors have given us constantly favorable reports.
We have taken due note of your request to notify you of any changes
in report content, future contamination findings or site usage.
The present status as we see it is:
The 4 tanks did not leave any contaminants in the ground.
The 1 tank unearthed November 1990 was not on our property.
Since we must assume there will no longer be any reason for you to
give prospective buyers a negative report on this property, we are
contacting several persons who are interested in purchasing the
business and property, to continue using it as an automobile repair
shop. They have stated previously that their purchase is contingent
on receiving a clean bill of health from you.
Yours sincerely,
Clifford A.
