open-pit mining method will be used to remove the sand and gravel. Mined aggregate will
be transported by trucks and/or conveyor belt from the Rose mining site to the adjacent
r
Teichert plant. Five to seven employees are required on site to conduct the mining
operation. Proposed hours of operation are 5 AM to 10 PM, Monday through Saturday. (It
is understood that Teichert may request extended hours in case of emergency or for special
jobs.) Water spraying trucks will ensure the reduction of dust emission. No on-site
Am ponding is necessary since screening, crushing, and storage are to occur off site.
'm The conveyor system, if used, would cross MacArthur Road at a point near the southern
boundary of the Rose property. Either an under-crossing using an open-cut placement of
culvert or an over-crossing which encloses the conveyor on three sides would be used. In
the case of the over-crossing, the structural supports would be located outside the MacArthur
Road right-of-way and the height would be about 16' above the roadway to allow adequate
clearance for traffic. The truck crossing would also be located near the southerly boundary
of the Rose property. A structural section of road 25' in width is proposed to accommodate
the trucks. An encroachment permit will be obtained for any work in the public right-of-
way.
` Time Frame
Teichert estimates that once mining begins, it will require approximately three years to mine
the Rose property. The commencement date for excavating the Rose property ties into
harvesting activity on adjacent Teichert parcels. The duration of mining is dependent upon
local demand for construction aggregate. Reclamation of the site will commence upon the
completion of mining activity.
L
Mining Process
` Excavation of this site will result in alteration of the topography. Prior to mining, the farm
structures and the orchard will be removed. The well will be abandoned according to
Health Department permit requirements.
L
V
IMP
2 MSO464-B
IN.
