INTRODUCTION:
This analysis was prepared to evaluate the noise impacts of mining operations
at the proposed Teichert Aggregates Rose excavation site in San Joaquin
_ County, California. Operations at this location will include the removal of
overburden and the excavation of aggregates. Equipment to be used at this
site includes Caterpillar 9888 front loaders for excavation and heavy trucks
for the removal of aggregates.
_ This acoustical analysis has been prepared for Teichert Aggregates to evaluate
existing and future noise levels associated with the proposed excavation
operations. Specifically, this analysis has been prepared to show existing
and project related future noise levels in comparison to the ate San Joaquin
County Noise Ordinance standards pertaining to aggregate
operations.
CRITERIA FOR ACCEPTABLE NOISE EXPOSURES:
The San Joaquin County Noise Ordinance, (Chapter 16, Section 9-3800) states
that no sound level shall exceed 65 dB Ldn at the property line of properties
which abut areas either developed residential , zoned residential , or shown for
residential use on the General Plan. The 65 dB Ldn standard would also apply
to the property lines of parks, schools, hospitals, and rest homes.
For uses which are not particularly noise sensitive, such as C-M, R-M, M-1 and
M-2 zones, the sound level shall not exceed 75 dB Ldn at the property line.
Because there are no noise sensitive land uses in the vicinity locable to f the posed
Rose excavation site, the 75 dB Ldn standard would be app
is
project.
SETTING:
The proposed excavation area is bounded by Macarthur Road and the existing
Teichert rock plant to the west, fruit orchards to the south and east, and the
Western Pacific Railroad and an industrial operation to the north. There are
no noise sensitive land uses in the vicinity of the proposed excavation area.
The project location is shown on Figure 1 .
- dix A: "Acoustical Terminology"
For an explanation of these terms see appen
1
