INFORMATION SHEET
ORDER NO. R5-2002-0220
TEICHERT AGGREGATES
TRACY ROCK PLANT
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Teichert Aggregates owns and operates the Tracy Rock aggregate processing facility at 29099 South
Macarthur Road in Tracy, San Joaquin County. Teichert processes earth materials excavated in the
surrounding area. The facility was constructed in the 1930's and Teichert has owned the facility since
the 1950's. The processing facility occupies approximately ten acres and is expected to operate for
approximately ten more years. The Discharger does not operate a concrete plant or an asphalt plant but
may wish to do so in the future.
The Discharger expects to produce approximately 1.5 million tons of aggregate per year.
Approximately 5.76 million gallons of wash water is generated daily. Most of the wash water is
recycled but due to evaporation and percolation, approximately 2.6 million gallons of make up water is
needed. The wastewater will be discharged to on-site settling ponds. The settling ponds located on the
Flintkote property owned by Calaveras Materials, Inc will be abandoned. No flocculants or other
chemicals are used in processing aggregate or added to the wastewater.
Groundwater occurs approximately 90 feet below the ground surface several feet below the existing
and proposed settling ponds. There are no groundwater monitoring wells, but there is an industrial
supply well near the aggregate processing area. The potential for the discharge to degrade
groundwater quality is low because chemicals are not used in processing aggregate, nor are any added
to the wastewater. Therefore, this Order does not require groundwater monitoring. If appropriate
depending on site activities, the Executive Officer may require groundwater monitoring later.
The surrounding land uses are industrial and agricultural.
ALO:12/13/02
C u+y o„oouuwKiroioouoonwa.ymfo.mo
