DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED MINING OPERATION continued 4.Mine Waste Sand and Gravel will be processed at the existing processing plant located on the North side of the Mokelumne River (which currently operates under Waste Discharge Order 93-177 for wash water discharged to the existing sedimentation and recycling pond). There will be no waste discharge associated with the excavation under this permit/reclamation plan. All excavated materials will either j be processed or used for reclamation. D. Size 1. Total Acreage to be permitted: 88.58 2. Total acreage to be disturbed: ±78 3. Total acreage to be reclaimed: +85 E. Water Reauirements The only water required for the project is used for dust suppressant at the excavation site and haul roads during the removal and transporting of sand and gravel to the processing plant. If conditions necessitate watering, it is obtained from the fresh water pond or well, located at the processing plant. F. Contaminants There are no potential contaminants applicable to this project other than soil amendments or fertilizer used in the walnut orchard. Berms or slopes will control off-site drainage of these potential contaminants. G. Waste Water No wastewater within the project area. H. Water Im oundmeuts and Diversions Impoundment or diversion structures will not be constructed within the project area. I. Ore Processing All materials will be processed at the existing processing plant operating under a separate permit. This project will not increase production at the processing plant. J. In-Stream Minin In-stream mining does not apply to this project. IC Other Information This project would allow applicant to continue sand and gravel extraction in an area which has had mining activity for the past 12 years. The processing plant has been permitted for the past 23 years. There will be no substantial change from the daily operations as they currently exist.
