[5] Cont.
or any past history of groundwater at this depth. The groundwater
flow appears to be towards the north, although many factors can
influence a localized groundwater directional flow.
The Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) , dated May 15, 1990 were
reviewed at the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water
Conservation District office. These maps indicate that the subject
property is not in a Zone A which is the 100 yr flood plain,
although it is close to a Zone A. It is recommended that the
Engineer-of-Record for any project development, survey the subject
property closely to assess any potential for flooding.
Groundwater chemical analyses was performed in accordance to the
requirements of the Conditions of Approval . Nitrate and
Dibromochloropropane (DBCP) concentrations were the two
constituents analyzed in the underlying groundwater. Sampling was
conducted on January 21, 1992 from the domestic well on parcel #1.
Sampling procedures were performed in accordance to Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines from the publication Practical
Guide for Ground-Water Sampling (EPA/600/2-85/104) . Analytical
procedures were also conducted under EPA regulations. The results
can be found in the Appendix and indicate a low level of nitrate
concentration at 9 . 7 mg/1 . This nitrate concentration illustrates
that there has been little impact upon the groundwater under the
subject property from on-site agricultural practices, particularly
the dairy operation, or from nearby septic systems. This low
nitrate concentration may be attributable to the extensive hardpan
layer and clay soil structure of the area. No concentration of
DBCP was detected in the retrieved sample.
5
' *ulity 'ontrol Inspection
a :1i
