[6] CONCLUSIONS
Although each proposed parcel of the subject property has varying
percolation rates for the shallow and deep test borings, it is
recommended that a 12, 000 square foot leach field area be utilized
for each of the four parcels. The shallow soil structure of the
subject property, consisting of organic silty clays, is not
conducive to favorable percolation of sewage effluent. Therefore,
the maximum leaching area of 12 , 000 square feet should be designed.
The sand strata encountered during the exploratory and percolation
test borings is favorable for the percolation of effluent.
Consequently, seepage pits must be utilized for each of the four
parcels. There is to be a minimum of 40 feet of leach line between
the septic tank and the pit, unless there is approval of deviation
from the Environmental Health Department. The pit will have a
minimum diameter of 33 inches and be installed to a maximum depth
of 25 feet.
As noted above, the water table is approximately 85 feet below
grade. Therefore, the groundwater level in this area is
unquestionably below the ten foot minimum distance between the
bottom of the seepage pits (approximately 25 feet) and the highest
anticipated depth to groundwater at this point in time.
Additionally, there will be approximately 60 feet of soil between
the bottom of the seepage pits and the current water table
elevation. This distance through soil should be an adequate
protection measure for the underlying groundwater from potential
pollutants.
Based upon the documented percolation information pertaining to the
placement of the proposed seepage pits within a percable soil
profile, and the highest anticipated depth to groundwater, there
should not be any adverse impact to the quality of the local area
- groundwater from these proposed septic systems.
6
-- O (>uulilq untrol 'rrsar'huri
