L <br /> Lodi,California 95242 <br /> RE: Abandoned pit well located at: <br /> 4860'East Main Street,Stockton,California 95215 APN(s): 173-210-04 <br /> On May 22, 2007 the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD)received a complaint <br /> stating that a pit well exists at the address stated above. On May 24, 2007 EHD performed an inspection <br /> and observed an abandoned brick lined pit well. The pit was not secured at the time of the inspection. <br /> Wells that are not in use and are not secured must be destroyed. This well is a violation of the following <br /> County Codes/Regulations: <br /> I. San Joaquin County Development Title 9, Section 9-1115.5 (f) and San Joaquin County <br /> well standards,Section 6.1: <br /> When a well no longer functions as originally designed, or cannot appropriately <br /> function in place of another design, or has fallen into such a state of disuse or disrepair <br /> that it may become a source of impairment to ground water quality, constitutes a safety <br /> hazard, or found to be abandoned, it must be destroyed under a well destruction <br /> permit. <br /> According to the San Joaquin County Development Title 9, Section 9-1115, this department has the <br /> authority to: issue an administrative order requiring the owner to take corrective action as necessary to <br /> abate a nuisance, cease and desist any improper action, and establish a time schedule according to which <br /> the site shall be brought into compliance. <br />
