f
December 23,2005
NOA Project Number: E05150A
a field,a use report must be filed with the Agricultural Commissioner. The use reports do not include
6. chemicals for which a permit is not required."
L The F-XTOXNE112 web site was consulted for information about toxicity and persistence of the
agricultural chemicals applied to the site. According to EXTOXNET, endosulfan is a Restricted Use
Pesticide (RUP) in EPA toxicity class I (highly toxic). Endosulfan has a half-life in soil of 35 to 150
days. According to EXTOXNET,MCPA is a systemic phenoxy herbicide used to control annual and
L perennial weeds. Though it is only slightly toxic, MCPA is also listed as an RUP. Its half-life in soil
ranges from one to nine days.
i
3.1.5 Water Supply and Sewage Disposal System
One agricultural well was observed in the walnut orchard on the property during the site visit on
December 13, 2005. It appears that the well at the adjacent residence to the west feeds into the barn
on the subject property, leading to the discharge of water through a pipe protruding from the back of
the barn. NOA interviewed Robert Cafesse, former owner of the residence to the west, as part of a
it previous investigation in October 2005. Mr. Cafesse indicated that Mr. Rolleri had a pipeline dug so,
that the residence on the current subject property could receive municipal water. The locations of the
agricultural well and adjacent domestic well are indicated on the site map (Appendix A). The location
1• of the septic system is unknown.
Staff at the California Water Service Company confirmed that the subject property receives potable
. water from them." According to staff at the Stockton Municipal Utilities Department, the subject
property is not connected to City sewer services.14
The EHD well and septic permit files were searched on November 1,2005 in an effort to obtain copies
of permits for any water wells or septic systems on the subject property. One permit, dated January 8,
1979, was found for the subject property address of 5113 East Main Street. This permit is for the ,
►. deepening of the existing domestic well located on the adjacent property to the west, according NOA's
understanding of current property lines. The permit included a drawing of a septic system to the north
of the residence,as indicated on the site map (Appendix A). The permit is included in Appendix F.
L
L
L "Personal Communication,November 28,2005.
12 University of California,Davis,Extension Toxicology Network(EXTOXNET),
http://extomct.ont.edu/ghind".httnl.
ba
t3Personal Communication,December 22,2005.
1Versonal Communication,December 22,2005.
L '00049
L
