L
LDecember 23,2005
NOA Project Number: E051 50A
3.4 Past Off-Site Sources of Contamination
n
No above-or below-ground potential or known sources of contamination to the subject property were
identified from past uses of surrounding properties, except for the following:
L. One Local Oversight Program case and one drug lab were identified within one-quarter mile
of the subject property.
• Marley Cooling Tower Company, located approximately one-half mile north-northwest of the
subject property, has contaminated groundwater in the area with total chromium and hexavalent
chromium. Hexavalent chromium has been detected in a monitoring well located in the Main
L Street roadway directly south of the subject property at 9.5 parts per billion (ppb) and in a
domestic well to the south of this at 0.7 ppb.
L 0 Three underground storage tank sites were identified on properties adjacent to the subject
property across East Main Street and Walker Lane.
L. 3.5 Current Off-Site Sources of Contamination
} No above-or below-ground potential or known sources of contamination to the subject property were
Lidentified from current uses of the surrounding properties, except for the following:
• Several 55-gallon drums which may contain waste oil were observed at the adjacent property
to the west.
LAdjacent properties utilize private wells and septic systems.
4.0 EVALUATION OF IDENTIFIED CONTAMINATION SOURCES
N
L Agricultural chemical residues may remain on the property. No evidence was found, however, to
indicate that the chemicals were applied inappropriately. Agricultural infrastructure may exist on the
property from the former fanning operations.
L
Because the underground storage tank on the property was removed without a permit, the possibility
Lexists that contamination may remain in the vicinity of that tank.
Because of the distance from the identified drug lab and Local Oversight Program case to the subject
i property,no impact to the property from those sources is anticipated at this time.
iL
13
"0144L
