` KLEINFELDER
control to Kleinfelder's office and then transported by courier in a sealed container to a state
certified laboratory for the requested analyses.
` The shovel, stainless steel sampling equipment, and sample tubes were decontaminated between
sample locations with a Liquinoz (laboratory-grade detergent) and potable water wash, followed
` by a distilled water rinse.
The soils encountered in the sample locations varied from clayey silts in the northern locations to
` silty sands in the southern section of the site. No obvious soil discoloration or unusual odors
were noted during the sampling activities.
60 A total of eighteen soil samples and one parent material sample were submitted under chain-of-
custody control to Sequoia Analytical of Sacramento, California. Sequoia is certified by the
State of California to perform the requested analyses. Only the shallowest soil samples collected
from bglLeath the base material from each location were analvazed by IL12h2Ldga The
remaining soil samples were held at t e laboratory pending any further laboratory analysis of
deeper intervals. The six shallow soil samples and rinseate of the parent material were analyzed
for the following;
_ ♦ Hexavalent Chromium by EPA Method 7196
♦ Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to diesel (TPH-D) by EPA Method 8015B
The samples were submitted on a standard 10 working day tum-around time (TAT).
LABORATORY RESULTS
Hexavalent Chromium
Hexavalent Chromium (Chromium VI) was not detected by the analytical laboratory from the
five^allow soil samples collected from immediately beneath the parking lot base, the perimeter
background sample, or from the rinseate of the parent material.
TPH-D
TPH-D was detected in one of the five shallow soil samples (L2-0") collected from the truck
trailer parking area with a reported concentration of 0.3 mg/l. TPH-D was also detected in the
rinseate of the parent material collected from location Ll with a reported concentration of 0.91
mg/l. TPH-D was not detected in the shallow perimeter background sample (BGl-0").
52495.E01/ST05R268/FB:Iv Page 3 of 6
2005,Kleinfelder,Inc. March 8,2005
L
