SECOND UNIT DWELLING <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT <br /> 1810 EAST HAZELTON AVENUE, STOCKTON, CA 95205 <br /> TELEPHONE: (209) 468-3120 <br /> BUSINESS HOURS: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. <br /> (Monday through Friday) <br /> APPLICATION PROCESSING STEPS <br /> STEP 1 CHECK WITH PLANNING STAFF - Planning Staff will explain the requirements and procedures to you. <br /> STEP 2 SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION - When you apply, file all of the following: <br /> FEE The staff will let you know the current cost of filing an application. Make checks payable to <br /> the San Joaquin County Treasurer. <br /> FORM Five (5) copies of the completed application information forms (attached) which all owners <br /> must sign. <br /> SITE PLAN Five (5) copies of a site plan (see attached). <br /> DEED One copy of the recorded deed(s) of the property. <br /> DOCUMENTA- One copy of documents showing that the resident(s) of the Second Unit Dwelling is at least <br /> TION OF AGE 55 years of age or is infirm and under a doctor's written order to be under close and watchful <br /> attention. <br /> MOBILEHONIE If you propose to use a mobilehome as a second unit dwelling,you will need to apply for a <br /> Mobilehome Building Permit (application attached). <br /> APPLICATION Staff will check your application. If anything is missing, you will be notified in writing. The <br /> COMPLETE applicant will be sent a postcard once the application has been determined complete. Your <br /> application cannot be processed until it is complete.) <br /> STEP 3 APPLICATION PROCESSING <br /> REFERRALS AND Staff will refer the application to any County departments, and other agencies affected by <br /> ACTION your proposal. At the end of a review and comment period (about 1 week) the staff will <br /> approve your application if the application conforms to all adopted standards. <br /> FINAL ACTION The action of the staff can be appealed to the Planning Commission. The staff's action is <br /> • final unless appealed. For further information on the length of the appeal period, contact the <br /> staff. <br /> STEP 4 CONDITIONS AND ADDITIONAL PERMITS <br /> REQUIREMENT The staff will send you the final action and if it is approved it will list requirement, by <br /> department, that must be met before you can obtain a building permit. <br /> SANITATION & Projects that will utilize on-site sanitation disposal and/or on-site wells, must get these permits <br /> WELL PERMITS from the Environmental Health Division. <br /> BUILDING A building permit must be approved prior to commencement of work. If the Second Unit <br /> PERMITS Dwelling is a mobilehome a Mobilehome Building Permit is required (application attached). <br /> OTHER PERMITS Other local, state and/or federal agencies may require permits.
