O. Box 73
Banta, CA 95304
SITE INSPECTION
An inspection was conducted at your proposed dairy facility at 20662 South San Jose Road on 30 July at
the request of Mr. Bill Marchese, Inspector for the San Joaquin County Public Health Services.
I was informed that you plan to begin milking 500 cows in September. The inspection revealed,
however, that the facility is not prepared for manure, storm water and waste water management that
would adequately protect water quality. The matters that need to be addressed are as follows:
1. Monitoring wells which were requested earlier have not been installed.
2. There remains a connection between the old settling pond and the adjacent drain.
3. Manure which had been scraped from a new free stall barn had discharged into the drain.
4. Pond capacity does not appear adequate to retain waste water and corral runoff during the winter.
5. Roofs and roof gutters drain into the corrals.
6. There are low areas in and around the corrals where storm water can accumulate.
Please submit a report prepared by a California Certified Engineer explaining how these matters will be
addressed. Please provide a schedule for completion of improvements.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 255-3110.
r3'✓`
LOUIS F.
