[2] Cont.
A review of Application Permits on file with the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department shows there have been four Applications for Repairs/Additions in the one mile radius
study area. These applications for system modifications were for additional drainage leach lines to
existing systems. Also, two well logs are attached which illustrate the deep subsurface soil strata.
[3[ PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF THE SUBJECT SITE
As referenced, it is proposed to divide a 339-acre parcel into a 10-acre parcel and a Designated
Remainder of 328 acres. It is our understanding there is to be no development or improvements
made to any of these parcels in the future, and it may be several years before development is initiated.
All proposed septic system structures and the domestic well must comply with the Health
Department's published "distance" requirements.
[4] SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTING
The predominate soil type from grade to 10 ft is a fine, sandy silt. This soil type pertains to the
north half of parcel 1. The sand content of the soil increases with depth, to a medium silty-sand,
sandy-silt at boring termination. A hardpan layer was not encountered in the drilling procedures.
The perc test boring was set on Parcel 1 at three feet below existing grade to illustrate the depth
where the effluent percolation or the "wetting front" will occur in native soil. Per the
requirements of the Health Department, a perc test was not done on the Designated Remainder.
Our percolation tests were conducted according to San Joaquin County Department of Environmental
Health regulations. The Field Test Data Sheets with the percolation test results can be found in the
Appendix. Due to the favorable perc rate at the three-foot depth, a deeper perc test was not
performed. A discussion of these rates, and septic system design recommendations will follow in the
Conclusions section of this report.
