Mr. Chandler T. Martin
Paae 2
August 20, 1992
The information I have provided herein indicates that the current owner purchased this productive
agricultural land with no intent of farming but only to sell or subdivide then sell for the purpose of
a quick profit. The approval of this application would result in a direct conversion of prime farm
land into a small, non-economic parcel without a sufficient water source for crop irrigation.
This project is growth inducing that will result in additional requests for the same "ranchette"
uses. In addition, approval will set a significant land use precedent in the area which is in direct
conflict with the general plan.
To summarize, although I support the tenants of Agricultural Homesite Property Splits, this
application violated such and should be denied without further consideration. Not to do so would
reward a non-owner/operator with a land split that could quickly be sold at an increased value and
in its wake, leave San Joaquin County, the agricultural community and close neighbors to suffer.
Sincerely,
Terry L. Prichard
-18-
