v J
Soils lithology in the general area of the test holes consisted of Galt Clay.
A copy of the Soils Classification Map prepared by the U.S. Department of
Ag Soil Conservation Service is included in the Appendix. Their map classified the
soils as Galt Clay. Based on the percolation results, there should be no potential
problems or special engineering required on seven of the future septic systems.
Parcel 1 will require an engineered system unless an acceptable percolation rate can
be achieved when a building permit is applied for.
Sixteen percolation tests were performed on various sized holes. The test holes
were dug on March 11 , 2004. They were soaked with water for 24 hours in
accordance with County Standards and the tests were performed on March 12, 2004.
The condition of the hole after the 24 hour soak period is noted on the County
work sheet in the appendix. It is purposely deleted from the body of this report for
clarity. (See percolation test results to identify hole locations.). The test holes for
all parcels were performed under a 4 hour test. The last half hour of the test
readings for all parcels were witnessed by a County Health Official and the test data
obtained is enclosed in the Appendix.
Parcel Number Percolation Diameter Depth of Hole Depth of
Rate Water in Hole
After 24 Hour
Presoak
1 Failed 4 in. 25.3 ft. 0"
2 3.33 min/in. 4 in. 24.5 ft. 0"
3 12.5 min/in. 4 in. 24.5 ft. 0"
4 4.54 min/in. 4 in. 23.8 ft. 0"
5 41 .7 min/in. 4 in. 24.0 ft. 0"
6 5 min/in. 4 in. 21 .10 ft. 0"
7 2.8 min/in. 4 in. 24.0 ft. 0" 49')
8 5 min/in. 4 in. 23.7 ft. 0"
VII. GROUNDWATER
A groundwater test was performed on the domestic well, located at 7066
Mobley Road. The well was tested for nitrates and DBCP. The samples were
taken by Mike Toy of Dillon & Murphy on March 31 , 2004 and driven directly to
Precision Enviro-Tech. Water was taken from a spigot at the house. The results
from the tests can be found in the Appendix. The results did not yield any reason
for concern regarding ground water in the area.
The water results were adequate for developing homesites on the proposed
40 acre parcels. Several of the nitrate level results are slightly above 10.0 mg/L
3
CA0396 Soil Suitability Study 070604
