It will be the determination of EHD on how
effluent volume through the meters is to be quantified. This may be by taking a meter reading on a
daily basis, or over a specified period of time and dividing by the number of days between readings to
arrive at an average gpd. Therefore, the flowmeters must be readily accessible for easy reading.
Peaking factors for users on septic tanks vary with usage during the hour of the day, and day of the
week. Peak hourly rates are associated with normal working hours. The ratio of the peak day to the
average day can vary from 1.5 to>5, depending upon the usage. However, since the ADF cannot
exceed 2,500 gpd, peaking factors are not as relevant, and the effluent pump will dose on demand.
Filter Bed Area
The filter bed area is typically calculated under Section 8.7 of the San Joaquin County Sewage
Standards and EHD Document 42-01-004: Calculation Requirements for Commercial Septic Systems:
Calculated Tank Capacity (CTC) = 1,125 gals+0.75 x 2,500 =3,000 gals
2,500 gallon EnviroServer+ 1 - 500 gallon lift station(or a 1,200 gallon septic tank=3,000 gals
Lineal Feet of Leachline(LFLL) = 1,200 BTC +2,500 ADF x 0.225 SF = 833 LFLL
Filter Bed Area= 833 x 3 =2,500 square feet. However, the filter bed area should also
correspond with the percolation, and more particularly, the infiltration test results. As referenced
above, the application rate correlated with the infiltration test results, is 0.757 gals/ftZ/day. Using
the ADF of 2,500 gpd= 0.757 gals/ftZ/day= 3,305 sq ft filter bed. The filter bed is proposed to be
60 ft x 60 ft= 3,600 ft .
L— Page -8- Chamey
age -8-
Chesney Carrsulting
