APPLICATION- QUARRY EXCAVATION <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT FILE <br /> NUMBER: OX <br /> INTRODUCTION: <br /> The Brown Sand, Inc. Mossdale Quarry is located in San <br /> Joaquin County, south of the City of Lathrop. The project <br /> is an extension of the mineable area of the existing <br /> quarry. No change in the rate of mining is proposed. The <br /> project will entail the excavation of near surface sand <br /> deposits from 286 acres of a 380 acre property. <br /> SECTION I : ENVIRONMENTAL SETTING <br /> A: Maps : <br /> The Excavation Site Plan and Reclamation Site Plan are <br /> enclosed and made a part of this application. <br /> Site Access : <br /> The project is located in San Joaquin County near the <br /> intersection of Interstate Highway 5 and State Route 120 <br /> south of the City of Lathrop. The project is an extension <br /> of Brown Sand' s Mossdale Ranch Quarry (QX-91-3 CA Mine I . D. <br /> 99-39-0022) The property is bordered by Interstate 5 to the <br /> north, the San Joaquin River to the south and east, and <br /> Paradise Cut to the west . The city of Lathrop is located on <br /> the north side of Interstate 5, to the northeast of the <br /> project . <br /> Location and Access : <br /> The project will continue to be accessed on a regional <br /> basis by Interstate 5, Interstate 205, and State Route 120, <br /> and by Manthey Road and Mossdale Road on a local basis . <br /> Excavated sands will be processed at the existing Brown <br /> Sand plant by washing and screening. There will be no <br /> increase in the number of vehicle trips or number of <br /> employees . <br /> Roads: <br /> Interstate 5, which ranges from 6 to 10 lanes through the <br /> 1-205/SR 120 connection, is a north-south freeway which <br /> serves Sacramento, San Joaquin, and Stanislaus Counties . <br />
