• c
V
over 50 feet in height above the water level will be
created, therefore no terracing will be required per county
requirements . No interim or Fill Slopes are proposed. No
Temporary Cut Slopes at Setback Lines are proposed. The
contour created by the excavation will be the final contour
required in the reclamation plan. Cuts will not create
interim slopes that need backfilling during reclamation.
The final contour will be created as the excavation
progresses . Slopes will be excavated to finish grade, and
the clayey soils resist erosion.
Final Reclamation:
Drainage :
Rain will fall on the cropland and be absorbed into the
ground and percolate into the water table . Rain that falls
in the lake will also become part of the water table .
Revegetation will be in the form of typical cropping
patterns in the setback areas . No areas of overcompaction
will be created that require sedimentation basins, berms,
silt screens, etc.
Reclamation to aquaculture will begin after excavation is
complete by stocking the lake with channel catfish, or
other marketable fish. Channel catfish are widely raised in
the central valley because of their excellent adaptability
to a wide range of environmental conditions . The fish will
be fed, and will be harvested when they have grown to
market size . Fish will be sold wholesale to dealers . After
harvest, the lake will be restocked and the cycle will
begin again. No retail or fee-fishing operation is
proposed.
Land that will not be under excavation will remain under
agricultural cultivation. Therefore, reclamation will
involve only the stocking of fish in the existing lake and
the continuation of farming in the setback areas . No earth
moving will be required.
Monitoring and Maintenance:
Monitoring and Maintenance will be the subject of the
annual inspection performed by the lead agency for the
project site until final reclamation is deemed complete.
