Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
RE: Site Remediation
13475 N. Jack Tone Rd. , Lodi, CA (Property No. 04-026)
Dear Mr. Knoll,
This letter has been prepared to provide you with information regarding the
overexcavation of petroleum-contaminated soils at 13475 N. Jack Tone Rd. , Lodi,
California. Consultant and contractor services were provided by Canonie
Environmental. Please find enclosed Canonie Environmental's "Closure Excavation
and Sampling Report" .
On November 16, 1990, six underground storage tanks were removed from the above-
referenced property during a site closure. Three gasoline tanks with volumes of
12,000, 10,000, and 6,000 gallons were removed from an excavation on the south
portion of the property and three 1,000 gallon tanks with no record of previous
content were removed from a separate excavation on the north portion of the
property. The locations of the former tanks are provided on Figure 1 - Site Plan
of Canonie Environmental's "Closure Excavation and Sampling Report" .
At the direction of Ms. Letitia Resch of the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services Environmental Health Division, soil samples were collected from the tank
excavations by a representative of ETS Environmental per the "Tri-Regional Board
Staff Recommendations" and "LUFT Field Manual". Samples were also collected
beneath the former piping. All samples were submitted to a laboratory and
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline by EPA Method 8015
and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020.
•- Samples collected from beneath the 10,000 gallon tank, 1,000 gallon tanks, and
product piping were also analyzed for ethylene dibromide and total lead. In
addition, samples collected from beneath the 1,000 gallon tanks and associated
piping were analyzed for TPH as diesel by EPA Method 3550.
Analytical results indicated the presence of TPH as gasoline at 91 ppm in the
sample collected from beneath the south end of the 12,000 gallon tank while a
sample collected from the south edge of the former pump island was found to
contain 590 ppm TPH. No contaminants were indicated in the remaining samples.
Table 1 in the attached consultant's report summarizes the analytical results.
v
