My clients ' ranch <br /> backs on to 14492 North Jack Tone Road and is across the street <br /> from the proposed chicken ranch , applied for under the <br /> above-referenced application number , to be located at 14489 <br /> North Jack Tone Road . The owners that I represent are Donlon <br /> Arques and the Verna Arques Educational Trust, Hugh Lawrence , <br /> Trustee . <br /> On behalf of my clients I raise strong objection to the <br /> proposed chicken ranch and base that objection upon the <br /> following statements : <br /> 1 . The proposed location for the chicken ranch has <br /> always been a horse ranch and the buildings would have to <br /> be drastically altered or totally destroyed in order for a <br /> chicken ranch to be established at that location , totally <br /> changing the nature of the neighborhood . <br /> 2 . While the application is for a chicken ranch of <br /> 1 , 000 chickens , it is highly doubtful whether it can be <br /> profitable with that limitation. Therefore , it is highly <br /> likely that the farm will have to increase and expand to <br /> become economic . <br /> 3 . Chicken ranches are notorious for developing <br /> intolerable odors , flies and feathers which will carry on <br /> to neighboring properties, including my clients , by the <br /> southwesterly winds from the Delta . This is an <br /> unreasonable burden upon adjoining property owners and <br /> will devalue the property in the area . <br />
