Y
Y
Past Uses of the Site
Per conversation with John Van Groningen, the southern portion of the Site has been
agricultural land or orchard in his family for approximately 50 years. The northern
portion has also been agricultural; the Van Groningens are leasing it for farming.
Existing and Proposed Se tic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
One septic system exists on the Site to serve the residences it was installed in 1976.
Proposed Septic System
There are no plans for construction on the Site. However, a new home could be placed
on the designated remainder parcel sometime in the future. If so, it would utilize a new
septic system.
On-Site Septic Permit History
One septic system permit for the Site was identified at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department. This permit, dated April 1976, is for the installation
of a new septic system at the residence; the system consists of a 1,500-gallon tank and
three leach lines totaling 210 feet.
One permit related to a water well was also identified for the Site. All Site permits are .
attached in Appendix 4.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To determine the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic
systems that exist approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo
imagery from GoogleEarth-rm was used. Each building cluster on the photo was
assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, we determined that there is a
minimum of 25 septic systems per square mile in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists of orchards and farmland with occasional rural residences.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity —
Based on a recent review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, the septic systems in the area
appear to utilize leach lines and sumps. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4
of this report.
LOGE1010 Page 2
