A communications
tower can be seen to the west of the Site. No other significant changes are apparent.
In the 2007 photo, the northern portion of the Site appears to be divided into two
separate fields by a field road; the irrigation well can be seen near the center of this
road. No other significant changes are apparent.
These photos are included in Appendix 3 of this report.
4.0 SITE INSPECTION
David Welch of Live Oak inspected the site on May 3, 2010. Photographs of the Site
are attached to this report as Appendix 2.
The Site is made up of two parcels. The southern parcel is an almond orchard with a
rural residence; the northern parcel is a field currently planted with wheat. One
domestic well, one septic system, and a swimming pool are located near the residence.
One pole-mounted transformer that appeared blackened and possibly damaged was
observed near the residence; no soil staining was evident beneath the transformer. Six
additional transformers were observed on the Site.
Two irrigation wells ere observed on the Site, one for the northern parcel and one for
outlern fbrush pile was observed near the center of the Site.
The adjacent land consists of orchards and wheat field, with scattered rural residences.
To the west of the Site, across Jack Tone Road, is a communications tower. An above-
ground fuel tank was observed at this facility.
5.0 INTERVIEWS
5.1 Interview with Property Owners
John Van Groningen was interviewed by telephone on April 15, 2010. He indicated that
the southern parcel is owned by his father, Arthur Van Groningen. The northern parcel
is currently owned by Dan Myers; the Van Groningens are leasing it for farming. The
southern parcel has been in the family for over 50 years. Mr. Van Groningen indicated
that the residence on the Site was constructed in 1976. He indicated that no chemical
mixing or storage takes place on the Site. He was not aware of any contamination,
dumping, or other environmental issues on or adjacent to the Site.
LOGE1009 Page 3
