Additional information
on these products was obtained from U.C. Davis Extension Toxicology Network
(EXTOXNET) unless otherwise indicated:
Methidathion (Supracide) is an organophosphorous insecticide and acaricide. It is
highly toxic to humans by ingestion or skin exposure. The compound has a field half-life
of one to four weeks in soil. It is soluble in water, but little is known about its half-life in
water.
Methyl bromide is a gas fumigant used for insects, rodents, weeds, nematodes, and
soil-borne diseases. The vapor is extremely toxic to humans. It evaporates quickly
under typical fumigation conditions.
Paraquat dichloride (Gramoxone, Firestorm) is a quartenary nitrogen herbicide used to
control broadleaf weeds. It is highly toxic to animals by all routes of exposure.
Paraquat has a half-life in soil of 16 months to 13 years; it binds strongly to soil
particles, and bound residues can persist indefinitely.
Lambda-cyhalothrin (Warrior) is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide and acaricide with a
moderate oral toxicity. It has a Ralf-life of four to 12 weeks in soil and a very low water
solubility.
LOGE1009 Page 7
