:r
5.0 SOIL PROFILE INFORMATION SECTION:
5.1 Site map showing location, with dimensions, of the soil profile pit on the parcel: See
-; Appendix.
5.2 Description of soil profile pit including depth and dimensions: The shallow test holes
were prepared per County Standards. The holes were excavated to a depth of 42 inches and
8 inches in diameter. They were backfilled with 2 inches of"pea gravel."
i
The deep holes were prepared per County Standards. Deep hole 1 was drilled to a depth of
21.9 feet, hole 2 was drilled to approximately 20.73 feet. A 2 inch diameter PVC pipe with
perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of water in the percolation test boring.
Approximately 2 inches of"pea gravel" were placed in the bottom of test boring; the PVC was
installed on top of the gravel. About 6 inches of"pea gravel" were backfilled in the annular
space.
5.3 Description of soil lithology as noted from test pit by appropriate professional using
industry standard protocol: The soil in this area is classified as Bruella sandy loam, Bruella
sandy loam-hard substration, Exeter sandy loam, and San Joaquin loam—thick surface as stated
in the Soil Survey of San Joaquin County, California as provided by the United States
/Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service.
l 1 ✓ 5.4 Discussion of soil lithology as related to future onsite septic uses: The Bruella sandy
loam, Bruella sandy loam-hard substration, Exeter sandy loam, and San Joaquin loam—thick
surface have very low permeability thus; percolation rates were slow as demonstrated by the
shallow perk results. (See Appendix).
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION SECTION
{/'6.1 Site Map Showing the location, with concise and accurate dimensions of the percolation
test holes on the parcel: See Appendix.
X6.2 The Minimum Number of Shallow and Deep Percolation Tests was Performed for Each
Parcel: Four shallow percolation test holes were prepared, one on each proposed parcel. Two
deep holes were prepared due to failure of two of the shallow tests.
/6.3 Description of the Date, Time and Protocol Used to Prepare the Test Hole, Including
Depth and Dimensions of Hole, Preparation of Hole, and Depth of Water Used to Presoak
(Minimum 12 Inches): The shallow test holes were excavated to a depth of 42 inches and
8 inches in diameter and backfilled with 2 inches of"pea gravel" in accordance with County
Standards. The shallow holes were prepared by staff of Neil O. Anderson &Associates on May
25, 2005. On May 31, 2005 at 7:30 a.m. the 24 hour.j2resoak period was started. The hole was
filled with 12 inches of water over the gravel and at this time Environmental Health Department
was notified of the start of the test.
3
# j
c A04201Soi4 Report
