The Discharger is required to submit a new Report of Waste Discharge prior to initiating grape <br /> crushing at the site, since grape crushing constitutes a material change in the character of <br /> wastewater discharged. <br /> GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS <br /> 23. Domestic wastes at the winery are discharged to a septic tank which discharges to a leachfield <br /> constructed in a mound. The system location is presented on Attachment B. Because a tasting <br /> room is not planned for the facility, the system serves mainly the site employees. <br /> 24. Three groundwater monitoring wells are located at the mound system. The wells were installed <br /> by requirement of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD). The <br /> SJCEHD maintains oversight of the domestic wastewater system. Annual monitoring of the wells <br /> is required by the Monitoring and Reporting Program(MRP) of this Order. Annual monitoring is <br /> required due to the shallow groundwater conditions. <br /> 25. The winery is served by a groundwater production well. The well is 225 feet deep and its surface <br /> seal extends to a depth of 100 feet bgs. The location of the well is presented on Attachment B. <br /> The most recent depth to groundwater measurements within this well indicated the depth to <br /> groundwater was 27 feet below ground surface (bgs). <br /> 26. Supply water is treated with an ozone injection system and multimedia filtration. Filter backwash <br /> is discharged to the stormwater retention pond. This Order requires the backwash water to be <br /> discharged into the wastewater system as described by Provision G.2.d. <br /> 27. The supply well was tested four times. Samples were collected from aquifer zones approximately <br /> 100 feet to 225 feet bgs.
