This letter addresses the
potential impact to ground water of the septic system for use with 35 employees per day on the 150-
acre Sutter Home Winery parcel. The 35 employees is the projected staffing when the seven year
project is complete. During the next two years, the staffing will be two to five people. For general
' information regarding the location, the Sutter Home Winery development, and soil conditions, please
see our Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading Study report dated May 27, 1999.
While completing our Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading Study on May 27, 1999, we
understood that an engineered mounded septic design was to be used for the treatment of wastewater.
The mounded type of system is needed due to high ground water conditions and low percolation
rates.` We understood the proposed septic system effluent would percolate a "0" nitrate level to
ground water and a report describing the engineered design was to be provided to you by another
f consultant. At this time, we understand the consultant is unavailable therefore we were requested
to conduct a nitrate loading analysis for the subject septic system.
The purpose of this investigation is to estimate the nitrate impact of the proposed septic
system effluent to ground water. Using the Hantzsche-Finnemore' mass balance equation,
Condor Earth Technologies, Inc., Sutter Home Wine Processing Facility Percolation Test.
