The test results show ND for DBCP and 10.4 mg/L for Nitrate. No groundwater was encountered
in the 25' soil profile hole. Moist clay and sand were encountered in the 25' soil profile hole.
SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTING
The soil profile observed in the field indicates a tight layer of course to medium soil with
predominat clay component. The sandy layer at T was moist. See Soil Profile Report by
Kleinfelder. The four hour percolation test was satisfactory for a single family residence. The clay
isvery tight and not conducive to satisfactory percolation. The sand layer at 7 feet should support
the needs of a single family residence. Should the leach field be constructed at another location
it is important to verify the sand strata is present. The percolation test report is included in
this report.
As ecvidenced by the percolation results the selected site for the leach field is conducive
to percolation of clear sewage effluent. The rate was observed by Mr. Ted Norgard, REHS,
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, 304 E. Weber Ave., Stockton, California.
SEPTIC TANK AND LEACH FIELD
A gravity sewer system will serve one single family residence on this parcel. A standard l y
structurallvsound and watemroof, 1500 gallon two-compartment tank is recommended.
The residential sewage system bulletin published by the Environmental Health Division
of the Public Health Services is included in Appendix C for the property owner's information. -74 S
The leach field area should be 8,000 S.F.
The use of a garbage disposal requires periodic inspection of the tank more often than normal
use without a disposal. To protect the leach field a gravity effluent filter should be installed
with riser to the surface and sealed lid. This provides easy access to clean and inspect the filter
every two years or as often as indicated by periodic inspection. The 4" Biotube Effluent Filter by
Q5I or equal, is recommended. (541) 459-4449. See Appendix D for a description of the
Biotube Filter. The septic tank should be pumped out when solids begin to clog the filter or
sooner.(Every 5 to 8 years) The most efficient septic tank is the Meander Tank by Willamette
Grayston Inc., Eugene, Or.(Cost: $880 FOB)
CONCLUSION
The septic system must be installed in conformance with existing San Joaquin County Standards,
by permit.Based on the available data, there should not be any adverse impact to the local
groundwater from the properly installed and maintained septic system. Pits are required to
take advantage of the sand strata. A document search at the Environmental Health Division for
septic repair or modification was made and findings follow:
