Jahant Road 1.296 W: Jahant Road
Acampo; CA 95220 Acarnpo, CA 95220
Dean Mr. Hoo:
We, Robert L. & Celeste Hallanger, are the property owners of 474 & 484
E. Jahant Road in Acampo. There are seven pi L Ole living on this property. 1
was just informed by a neighbor on Jahant Road of the above referenced
application. I am.disappointed that the San Joaquin County, Community
Development Department, did not send us an Application Referral notice of the
public hearing. I believe.every property, owner within 1-1/2 mile of the proposed
site should be served notice and given an opporkunity 0 comment. Our=home is
approximately©ne tia€f mile west--&' a proposed winery site "Please proViae us
a notice of date, time*and"lace of the pubiio hearing -Please`add`out• nanie on
the mailing list. .
We acquired our 20 acre site in 1990:.At that time!it had-a mobile home
and
and shop building on bare land. In 1992 we planted 16-213 acre of commercial
walnut trees (800 trees total). In 1996 we built a 4,000 square foot two story
custom home_ We built our home on this pristine country property with the
intention to live here until our final days and then to pass the property on to our
children.
We are strongly against building a large scale winery so close to our home
and on pristine land.
1. We object to having our country life and property value destroyed by the
operations of a large scale winery. The winery will produce unsettling noise form
pressure washers, processors, refrigeration units and trucks. Jahant Road in
front of our house will become a commercial road of incoming and outgoing
trucks which is multiplied during harvest. Lower Sacramento Road and Jahant
Road will become a dangerous intersection due to truck traffic and next to the
dead man's curve on Lower Sacramento. Wineries release an'awful, smell by the
fermenting process, residual stems/seeds smell until removed and treatment
pond stench. A massive amount of flies from the winery wiil'spread onto our
property. Bright lighting will be seen at night with twenty four hour operations
during harvest. A winery on this section of Jahant Road will be an eye-sore.
