Namol
i
t-age -2-
Noise, smell, bright lighting at night will ruin our country life and de-value our
property.
2. We feel the winery will cause harm to.our health by pollution released into
the air from the winery and vehicle traffic. Our water table is at 48' and stands to
be polluted by the ponds and other winery activities. There will be unacceptable
noise pollution.
3. The proposed site is against Jahant Slough, which flows into Forest Lakes
until reaching the Mokelumne River. We understand that there are nine
endangered species on record in the proposed area. This is a "special" and last
remaining wilderness area for wildlife in northern San Joaquin County. We have
observed, a partial list and as an example, the following wildlife coming from this
area and passing on our property: deer, coyote, red fox, jack and cottontail
rabbit, wild turkey, migrating duck and geese, owl, hawk, vulture, crow, pigeon,
killdeer, finch, robin, sparrow, swallow, raccoon, opossum, skunk, mice, gopher 1
king 1 racer snakes, various types of frogs, lizards and turtles. The noise, smell,
bright lighting at night and pollution will harm the wildlife.
We feel a winery should be located away from valuable homes and away
from a wildlife area. The winery should, perhaps, be located next to a railroad
track such as the old winery in Acampo, by the Lodi airport, by the natural gas
facility or in open, uninhabited and non-productive agricultural land.
San Joaquin County needs to require that the Langetwins Limited PTP
submit an environmental impact report. We would like to know how this may
affect our environment, our water table, air quality, traffic congestion, noise
levels, natural habitats and existing natural wetlands.
We are submitting this letter of recommendations or comments on this
project to the Community Development Department as required by no later than
August 3, 2005.
Sincerely,
Signed
Robert L. Hallanger
Signed (2 Q
Celeste Hallanger
Mailing Address: 484 E. Jahant Road
Acampo, CA 95220
Phone: (209) 333-3732 or (209) 993-0282
