June16,2004 NOA ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT NUMBER E04056A Page 6 6' V 3.1.3 San Joaquin County Office ofEmergency Services ` The San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services (SJOES)'was contacted in an attempt to determine if there are any files present at that agency which note any hazardous materials releases or spills on the subject property or in the vicinity of the subject property. According to Ms. Michelle LHalliwell of the OES,no incident reports are on file at that agency for the subject property (personal communication,June 7,2004). However, two (2) spills were reported in the vicinity of Jahant and Bruella Roads. After reviewing the reports on these spills,NOA determined that due to the size an Lnature of the incidents, they do not pose a threat to the subject property. A review of the "Notification of Hazardous Waste Discharge" files within one-quarter mile of the Lsubject property was conducted on June 4, 2004. After searching the files back to 1994,no such notices were found. L ✓ 3.1.4 Liberty Fire Protection District The Liberty Fire District in Acampo (located within one-half mile of the subject property) was Lcontacted by telephone in an attempt to determine if any hazardous materials releases or spills occurred on the subject property or in the vicinity of the subject property. Karen Kammerer, Secretary for the District, stated' she has worked for the District for almost thirteen years and she Lrecalls no haz mat incidents in the vicinity of the subject property. 3.L5 San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner LThe San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner's Offices was contacted in an effort to determine whether the subject property had been used in the past for agricultural purposes,and Lwhether agricultural chemicals had been used on the subject property. From inspection of records provided by Hazel Gallego of the Agricultural Commissioner's Office,it L appears that two walnut orchards divided by a vineyard have been grown on the subject property (see Site Map in Appendix A for approximate locations of these crops) During the years from 1998 through 2004,both crops have been permitted for the use of strychnine and paraquat. In L 2004, the walnut orchards were permitted for the use of Sevin as well. No permits were located for 1999.
