r k`■ KLEINFELDER
` 2. PRESENT AND PAST USE
LBased on information provided to us by Mr. Loduca, we understand that the site has been used to 2
grow row crops for approximately 15 years. Prior to that, the site was an almond orchard. We
understand that approximately 40 years ago a residence located near the southeast comer of the
. parcel was demolished.
`f 3. SEPTIC PERMITS AND PERFORMANCE
3.
i There were no SJCEHD septic permits on file for the subject property but permits were on file 3,-3
L for parcels adjacent to the subject property. The permits encountered were for new installations, svo
no permits for repairs/additions were on file. A summary of permit information is presented on
L Plate 2, and copies of the permits reviewed are attached in the appendix. According to Mr.
LLoduca, to the best of his knowledge, none of the adjacent properties require repairs or additions
to be made at this time. 3 _ Pck'P bra
'VoaH,.rs
L
3 4. GROUNDWATER — rasfF L Ear
>Ma °
LGroundwater was not encountered during our investigation. Lines of Equal Depth to
Groundwater contour maps published in groundwater reports by the San Joaquin County Flood
Control and Water Conservation District (1985 to 1999) show groundwater levels in the project q
Larea ranging from about 20 to 45 feet below ground surface. Based on Lines of Equal Elevation
of Groundwater contour maps, the general groundwater gradient in the project area is generally
from southwest to northeast. Local gradient variations may occur due to well usage.
L
There are no known wells on the site, and groundwater is not used at the site. We anticipate that
future groundwater use will include residential/household and landscape uses.
L
Based on our conversations with Mr. Loduca and our limited observations, we do not know of
any existing and/or potential groundwater contamination issues in the project vicinity. There are Z
6. no existing gas stations, Laundromats, or dairies adjacent to the property. Agricultural uses of
fertilizer, both on- and off-site, and septic uses at nearby homes are likely the largest contributors 4 A4
of nitrogen to groundwater in the project vicinity. We anticipate that the primary on-site sources ysbsk*`
of nitrate will be landscaping fertilization and septic use.
5. SOIL PROFILE
r
The subsurface conditions within the proposed septic tank/leach-field area were explored at {,
4
about 7:00 am on May 10, 2004, by drilling one boring to a depth of approximately 20 feet
below existing grade. The borings was drilled using a Simco 2400 truck-mounted drill rig L
equipped with 4.5-inch O.D. solid-stem auger. The approximate boring location is presented on
Plate 1. 5
L44419.G01/ST04R785 June 8,2004
©2004 Kleinfelder,Inc. Page 2 of 6
L
