Anewmestic well and septic systems will serve the office building and house on proposed
d Parcel 2, respectively. Existing drainage flows to the north, with the proposed
ents to be designed the same way. The databases accessed did not in i .a e a nroblem or potential_
problem with The s ,hiect site. Potential environmental impact from other facilities, whether it be
the Duel Vocational facility, Interstate 5, the Union Pacific Railroad, and/or residential structures
within a one mile proximity to the subject site is unknown at this time. It is conceivable that
there may be groundwater impact at present or in the future, particul xlyom nitrate due to
agricultural inputs. _
The subject property was purchased by Thomsen Brothers in 1990. Ownership before this is
unknown. Since the operation of the subject property is well documented, previous property
ownerships were not investigated.
There are two primary sources of information that document and define past land use, although
they are sometimes difficult to interpret. The first is the use of aerial photographs. Aerial
photographs of the subject area in the 1970's from USDA Soil Maps show only open farmland
with none of the improvements listed above.
The second source of information can be found on USGS maps. A 1988 USGS quadrangle map
for this area indicates no buildings on the subject property. There has been no photo revision of
this USGS map since 1988.
INFORMATION FROM SITE RECONNAISSANCE AND INTERVIEWS
The following information was obtained visually and/or through an interview with Mr. Trinkle
on July 12, 2001: The subject property has apparently never had underground-steragtanks
(USTs). There is an above ground diesel storage tanks(AST)that has a concrete loading pad.
Som sel spills has occurred; however, there is a bucket that catches drips from the pump
and discharge hose. It is unlikely the spillage has affected groundwater, although this is
dependant upon how long the drip bucket has been there. ltappcarsthat it_has_b=n therefor-
CLdown
time. Two oil drums are also on this concrete pad. A propane tank is used for
cooking. There are two other old, empty tanks. A semi-trailer is used for fertilizer
he surrounding crops. Some liquid fertilizer spillage has taken place, which has run
tch.
Page -2-
Va(Iey Ag Research
